Meanwhile , Associate Professor at Victoria University , Mary Carolan said that pregnant women over the age of 35 years were twice as likely to have gestational diabetes which can affect the health of the baby . Carolan said pregnancy in old age can also increase the risk of stillbirth .
Although , in some areas is so low that it happened can not really obtain reliable statistics . However, Carolan affirm women over age 35 can also have a healthy pregnancy .
" Despite all the risky pregnancy , women over the age of 35 years , before deciding to become pregnant , make sure in good health and not have problems like diabetes and high blood pressure , have a normal weight and a healthy lifestyle , " said Carolan .
Because , women who are overweight are significantly more at risk of developing gestational diabetes than women who are slimmer and more physically active .
