The cost of living in the U.S. rose the most in almost 5 years in April , a signal that inflation is likely to rise as the level of demand in the world's largest economy to recover from a bad pertuma quarter .
The consumer price index rose as much as 0.3 % , the biggest increase since June, following a rise of 0.2 % in the previous month , according to the Labor Department in Washington . The increase is in line with economist estimates . For the annual rate , the consumer price index rose as much as 2.0 % , the most since July, after a rise of 1.5 % on an annual basis in the previous month .
Inflation is moving towards the target of the Federal Reserve , giving officials reason for the Fed to continue cutting programs oblgiasi purchases by the central bank .
Robust employment sector and the rapid pace of wage increases will be needed to sustain the increase in the level of demand and enable consumers to follow the price increase .
" Inflation is still a little too low , and this slight increase will be considered either by the Fed , " said Ryan Sweet , a senior economist at Moody 's Analytics Inc. . in West Chester , Pennsylvania . " Growing fast pace of inflation will be slow and steady until next year . "
