Australian Working on Super Computer 35 Thousand Core


Not satisfied with a super computer besutannya Magnus is armed with 3328 cores , Australia intends to upgrade the 35 thousand cores immersed in it .
Pawsey Supercomputing Centre in Australia which handles the upgrade plans using the latest Intel Xeon processor server that E5 -2600 v3 .
The processor itself will be announced Intel at the end of June and has a speed of 100-200 MHz faster than the previous generation .
Magnus is currently only equipped with 3328 cores were handed 68 teraflops . Through upgrades to be done , Pawsey hope Magnus can penetrate and make it as a matter of petaflops supercomputer fastest in the southern hemisphere .
Magnus super computer has been used for the calculation of radio astronomy and geoscience problems . Upgrade to count petaflops scale is believed to help with the work in these two areas more quickly and accurately .
As reported by The Register , Tuesday ( 12/05/2014 ) , in addition to Magnus , Pawsey also have other supercomputer named Galaxy . Super computer is equipped with 9440 cores and ranks 209 in the list of 500 greatest super computer in the world .
